FIPSE Freeware Project

The LeCroy Center for Educational Telecommunications of Dallas County Community College District recently received funding from the U.S. Department of Education's Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE) to explore the concept of open courseware. Through its Dallas TeleLearning operation, the LeCroy Center invites selected higher education institutions to participate in the Freeware project.

  • Selected colleges will play a significant role in the implementation, receiving national recognition for their efforts in this project. 
  • Nationally recognized multi-media courses developed by the LeCroy Center will be available at no cost to the participating college. These courses are pedagogically sound, available totally online and developed with Quality MattersĀ© standards. 
  • Participating colleges will help document successes and identify barriers that will lead to best practices in the open courseware movement.
